... the longest established fully co-educational private school for three to eleven year olds in the area
The Infant Department aims to provide a happy and stimulating environment in which children develop intellectually and socially. We cater for children aged between four and seven years of age. Children are taught in small classes with emphasis on individual attention. All children are given a thorough grounding in basic subjects and formal work is consolidated with interesting and challenging practical activities.
The essential skills of literacy and numeracy are promoted within a wide and varied programme which includes Science, History, Geography, Music and Drama. The children's physical development is enhanced by giving them opportunities to develop and practice their fine and gross motor skills through the use of small and large apparatus. There is ample opportunity for children to use the sports field, playground and school hall for Physical Education lessons.
Creative development is encouraged through a variety of Art, Design and Technology lessons and children are encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings.
The requirements of the National Curriculum are taken fully into account and individual progress is carefully monitored. The transition from the Infant to Junior Departments is eased by involving children in their final Y2 term in Junior activities such as library and story sessions and the School Swimming Gala.
"We are committed to providing a happy and caring environment in which all children are encouraged to reach their full potential".
