ICT

The teaching of ICT begins at the age of three when Nursery and Reception children have one to one tuition in basic computer skills. Once children join the Infant Department, they are taught in our networked ICT room, which is fully resourced with up-to-date equipment, software and teaching/learning support materials. At Infant level, concepts taught in the classroom are consolidated and presented in a different format on the computer.

Junior - Confident preparation for the future

Within this department for children aged seven to eleven years old, the individual progress of each child remains of paramount importance. The curriculum is studied in more depth using the best of modern and traditional teaching methods.

Infants - The learning experience

The Infant Department aims to provide a happy and stimulating environment in which children develop intellectually and socially. We cater for children aged between four and seven years of age. Children are taught in small classes with emphasis on individual attention. All children are given a thorough grounding in basic subjects and formal work is consolidated with interesting and challenging practical activities.

Pre-School Reception - A welcome start

Our Reception Class is for children aged four to four and a half. At The Shrubbery School, we recognise that many children are ready to begin a more formal education at an early age. Our reception class aims to help children with the important foundation skills.

Nursery - The early years

Children are invited to join The Shrubbery Nursery from the age of three. The Nursery itself is a bright, cosy self-contained unit bordered by the school playing field and colourful garden. While the unit is self- contained, it is very much part of the school and children are able to move forwards into our Infant Department with confidence.
